About the owner

Meet TyWanna S. Patrick, a passionate advocate for natural hair care and cultural pride. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, TyWanna is the owner and operator of NuBginN's Natural Hair & Wellness Center in Chicago's west side. She is a licensed cosmetologist and a certified braid teacher/natural hair instructor who provides workshops/classes and one on one trainings.

After becoming a licensed cosmetologist, TyWanna witnessed the damage caused by chemical applications on African American women's hair. This led her to focus on natural hair care and become an advocate for cultural pride and natural hair. She educates and transitions her clients and anyone she encounters to embrace their natural hair.

TyWanna has been actively involved in various natural hair care forums, panels, and workshops, spreading her knowledge and expertise. She has collaborated with Biostrand Products Company in research and development and worked with Organic Root Stimulator as a natural hair platform artist. She has also taught classes and participated in natural hair care forums all over Chicago.

As a member of the Illinois Association of Hair Braiders, TyWanna played a crucial role in assisting individuals in obtaining licensing for the Illinois Braiders License. She is currently an executive member of the Natural Hair Professionals. In 2017, TyWanna received the Master Pioneer of Natural Hair Awards in NYC.

TyWanna's commitment to holistic wellness led her to study  Naturopathic health and become a certified Kemetic Yoga Instructor. She has teaches yoga and meditation classes, spreading awareness of the benefits of these practices.

With her extensive knowledge and experience, TyWanna continues to inspire and educate individuals of African descent, emphasizing the importance of knowing one's culture, history, and embracing natural hair. Her motto, "Free Your Hair, Free Your Mind," encapsulates her mission to empower individuals to love themselves and their natural beauty.
